Tongjiang Railway Port Achieves Two-Way Connectivity for China-Europe Freight Trains

2023-10-27

On Oct 26th, the first return trip China-Europe freight train departing from Tongjiang North Station successfully set out for Changsha North Station. This marks the achievement of bidirectional connectivity for the China-Europe freight train at the Tongjiang railway port, expanding the international transportation corridor. The Tongjiang railway port is an important gateway for China's border trade and is located in the northeastern part of Heilongjiang Province. It is classified as a national first-class port.

The railway distance from this port to the European hinterland is 809 kilometers shorter than that of the Suifenhe railway port, resulting in a time savings of 10 hours for transportation. In July 2023, the first outbound China-Europe freight train was launched from the Tongjiang railway port, initially serving mainly as a transportation route for goods from cities such as Changsha, Shenyang, Changchun, Harbin, and their surrounding areas to reach several European countries. The transported goods include automotive components, food, and other product categories, and stable operations have been achieved in the past three months.
